Bruce is an aviation attorney who began a lifetime involvement in aviation when he made his initial solo flight on his sixteenth birthday in a J-3 Cub and obtained his private pilot’s license as a high school student. After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy, he became an Air Force Pilot and served on active duty, flying throughout the world. After fulfilling his military commitment, he became an airline pilot, graduated with honors from the Wake Forest University School of Law and has practiced with the largest law firm in North Carolina. He is an adjunct professor at the Wake Forest School of Law teaching Aviation Law and formerly an adjunct faculty member of the National Transportation Safety Board’s Basic Aircraft Accident Investigation School.

Bruce’s experience covers the spectrum of aviation, from airplane crash litigation, FAA enforcement actions, teaching at a major university law school and the National Transportation Safety Board, to being an Air Force pilot, an Airline Captain and a Check Airman. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), a member of the North Carolina Bar, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, American Association for Justice and retired member of the Air Line Pilots Association. He is a Certified Flight Instructor/Instrument/Multi-engine Instructor and holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating. He has type ratings in the following aircraft: B-737, A-330, A-319/320/321, L-382 (C-130), FK-28, is active in general aviation and has flown over 19,000 hours. He currently flies a Twin Comanche and Aeronca Champ.
